Style Veteran

She is the First Lady of Edinburgh’s fashion scene - and after 35 years Nina Grant is still puling the crowds to her eclectic boutique.

Edinburgh’s style posse are well familiar with Corniche. For the past 35 years, boutique owner Nina Grant has been bringing edgy, deconstructed fashion to the Scottish capital, buying with an eye for the eclectic and a clear passion for fashion originality. Grant was the first to import Japanese fashion in to the UK, and along the way has gained industry recognition as a ‘UK Designer Store of the Year’. But it’s the clothes, not the kudos, which keeps local hipsters coming back for more. The double-fronted boutique just off the Royal Mile is crammed with crazy finds for both laddies and lassies – from the gorgeous asymmetrical lines of a Comme des Garçons skirt to Yohji Yamamoto’s hipper than thou men’s suiting. And fans of funky china will be happy to herald the arrival of Wedgwood’s limited edition Vivienne Westwood-designed tea sets (until stocks sell out). Sounds just like our cup of you-know-what.
